Entry Requirements

Entry to this qualification is limited to those who:

Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from the BSB Training Package (current or superseded equivalent versions).

or

Have two years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience in an operational or leadership role in an enterprise.

Students are issued with  learning materials  and handouts relevant to each unit. Each student will gain a Darwin College Student access account to a Microsoft 365 including an individual student email account.

Course Structure

The course structure consists of 10 units of compulsory. All units of competency must be achieved. Each area covers a specific area of work and is directed towards the acquisition of practical work place skills with theory, calculations and drawing integrated when delivering the competencies.
A mixture of practical tutorials, project work and written tests will be used in assessing this course. Assessment is a necessary part of this program, to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge set out in the competency standards. You will be informed in advance about the assessment procedure and criteria. There will also be opportunity for appeal and reassessment and you will be provided with this information.

Industry Membership

As a Leadership student of Darwin College you are eligible to join the Australia Human Resources Institute. The student membership level allows you to access AHRI member resources to support your studies and get a foot in the door with AHRI professional networking opportunities (Cost of student membership $38.50). This membership grade is designed for students who’ve not yet entered the workforce, and is therefore not suitable for people who are currently working in HR.

Expected Study Hours

To successfully complete this program, it is expected that you undertake on average at least 30 hours of study per week. This qualification has a total of 2000 expected study hours.

After successful completion of your Advanced Diploma you will have many other study options available to you. These may relate Qualification at the Bachelor Level.

Credit Transfer, RPL, Refund, Complaints and Support

RPL and Credit Transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) recognises skills and knowledge that may have been gained through formal and informal training and/or learning, work experience and life experience to determine the extent to which they have achieved the required competency outcomes. It involves collecting evidence and making judgements on whether competence has been achieved. RPL is available to all learners. Applicants who can demonstrate competence in some or all aspects of a qualification can apply for RPL, once enrolled. The RTO recognises the AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations. Enrolled students can apply for Credit Transfer for any previously completed unit of competency that meets the qualification packaging rules and for which they can provide evidence. Students must provide a certified true copy of the Statement of Attainment or record of results on which the achievement is recorded for validation for credit to be granted.

* Successful RPL or Credit Transfer may reduce the duration and cost of your course.

Fees Reduction for RPL or CT

Student Fees will be adjusted if you are granted RPL or Credit Transfer for any units in the Training Program. If you apply for, and are granted, RPL or CT before enrolment this will be inputted to the Fee Calculator and the fee you are charged will be reduced. If RPL or CT is awarded after the start of the Training Program you will receive a refund to any student fees paid.

Refund Policy

All information regarding fees to be paid by student will be supplied individually on enrolment upon completion of the Notification of Enrolment Process.
Students will be notified of any schedule of payments on enrolment. Students will be notified of any additional equipment costs prior to enrolment.
Any fee schedule will ensure that all fees are paid in full prior to completion of training and assessment. All fees collected will be retained by Darwin College. Where applicable (i.e. under certain Awards) the employer may pay the Fee for their staff. Fees will be adjusted to reflect any RPL or CT and if necessary refunds will be made.

Withdrawal of  Student

We will make refunds to students in certain circumstances as listed in the table below. To apply for a refund you should: email a request/ fill in our Refund Form located on our website and send to admin@darwin.edu.au

Withdrawing from a training program  You will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid if you withdraw more than 14 days before the scheduled start of the training program
If you withdraw within 14 days before the scheduled start of the training program you will be entitled to 50% of fees paid.
If a training program is cancelled before commencement   You will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid
Provider Fee Refund Guarantee 
IF for any reason we cannot complete the training   You will be entitled to a entitled to a refund of fees proportional to the amount of training not delivered.Calculation method :  Unit Fee equal: Total Course Fees divided by The Number of unit of competency.

Complaint and Grievance Policy

We undertake to deal with complaints fairly, providing advice and guidance for a satisfactory and unbiased outcome.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service provided by us, you should discuss this directly with a member of the program team. If you are unhappy with the outcome of the discussion you should lodge a written complaint with our Student Services Team outlining the reason for dissatisfaction. Your complaint will be reviewed and a written response will be provided within five days of receipt.

Academic Support

An experienced trainer is appointed to provide you training and assessment services. This Trainer will be your initial point of contact and will answer all your questions regarding learning and assessment. Your Program Manager will also provide you with advice, support and referral to our other support systems.

Learning support

Sometimes you may need extra help with a particular subject or skill.
Our Learning Support team is available to assist you with:

  • Literacy (reading and writing)
  • Numeracy
  • English as a second language
  • Computing skills
  • Communication skills.

Congratulations to our Graduates!

Darwin College has agreement with Universal Business School Sydney (UBSS), for our BSB60420 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and  Management to articulate into their undergraduate Bachelor of Business. We are also in negotiations with other Higher Education Providers and Universities to expand this offering. Upon successful application to Universal Business School Sydney, students who have completed our BSB60420 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and  Management will have their Darwin College studies recognised as equivalent to 10 Subjects from the  Bachelor of Business with UBSS.
